Eat Drink Play - Pollen Tea Room

Simplistic, soulful, soothing.

Upon walking into Pollen Tea Room these words describe perfectly how I feel once I enter this oasis of calm. Located in beautiful Battery Point on Hampden Street, Tasmania, this café exudes authenticity. I come back for a visit every single time I get back to Hobart – and for good reason.

Using fresh and local produce – including herbs sourced from her very own garden located to the back of the café – you can genuinely taste the love, effort and freshness in every single dish that is produced Abbey & her staff. The menu is perfectly balanced with healthy and wholesome food, and the coffee is quite simply divine.

When I spoke with Abbey (the owner of this gem of a café), it was clear to see that herethos reflects what is presented to her customers every single day – good food, good service and good vibes. Pollen Tea Rooms’ previous owners (Tea Tribe) could see the genuine passion that Abbey has for this place and offered her the opportunity to take ownership of this cosy café in Battery Point. She took this opportunity with hustle, love and both hands, and has run this beautiful cafe (very successfully might I say) for the past nine months.

The interior and exterior are something else as well. Walking into this place, I feel animmediate soothing calm – the soothing tunes playing softly in the background and the calming interior design combined with the variety of the menu come together to ensure you leave this place feeling relaxed, calm and ready to take on the day. Walk a little further out the back on a beautiful day and there is a quiet oasis filled with gorgeous greenery to help you kick back and relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while.

Another little addition to this wonderful café is that Abbey stocks Tea Tribe products (yay!). If you need help at all deciphering the different types of tea, their benefits and what is best suited for you, Abbey will happily share her wealth of knowledge about the different teas on offer.

Do yourself a favour next time you’re in Hobart and head on over to Pollen Tea Room. The service, smiles, good food and coffee are the perfect start to your day.
