October, Australia’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, provides an opportunity for us all to focus on breast cancer and its impact on those affected by the disease in our community.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer). Survival rates continue to improve in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.
We have all be touched by this horrid disease in some way, shape or form. We have lost way too many beautiful souls, so let's take a moment to reflect with all things pink this week. It's our way of celebrating their lives and their fight.
This detailed mandala print by @rabbitdigs reflects the never ending love for those lives lost and also reflects hope that we will one day find a cure.
The ever so sweet pink cloud by @pine.twine is a reminder that those loved ones are looking down on us from above. Clouds seem to have a calming effect on many people.
Hold a loved one close to your heart by wearing a pink necklace by @pollycollective. It's also a great way to show your support by wearing pink this month.
We all need a good cry now and then, whether you are the patient, carer, family member or friend and a comfort cushion by @me_and_zebedee should do the trick during those rough times.
Art can be a a touching way to remember a loved one. Hanging a piece in your home that really captures the personality of a loved one lost like this one by @sabikleinart and is a way of remembering all the precious memories you had together.
I'm absolutely blown away by this recent collaboration between @woolandwillow and @laurenskorsis! They have created a series of motivational and inspirational prints and candles for breast cancer awareness, with a 100% of proceeds being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (@nbcfaus). Amazing!
Another lovely way to show your support this month by wearing pink is a pair @poesie_handmade earrings. These earrings will also make a lovely gift to a fighter of the disease.
Lastly we have some amazing art in the making by @erin_hodgesdesign. I'm dedicating those pink lips and pretty face to all the amazing women we have lost. We miss each and everyone of you!
To those who are fighting and to those who have lost loved ones, you are not alone. You are in our thoughts and prayers always. Be brave, never give up, be a fighter and become a survivor. Much love to you all xx
#ShowYourSupport and take part in the National Breast Cancer Foundation's social media campaign this October. Taking a simple selfie will show your support for those with breast cancer and help raise awareness of the vital life-changing role research plays.
