Kreo Home welcomes another very talented Australian designer to its lineup, Lisa Shepherd from InKognito Surface Design. Lisa has an amazing eye for detail, which is clearly demonstrated in her original handmade pieces. We have included below, Lisa's bio that will take you on her design journey up until present day...
Hello I’m Lisa the designer, owner and maker at InKognito Surface Design. I started this venture with an idea to make our lives a little more beautiful and my goal is to build a successful business through my life long love of art and design. I was born and raised in England but have been living in Sydney, Australia now for the past 8 years.
Since I was a young girl I have always loved to draw, paint and experiment with colour. My bedroom was my pride and joy, it popped with colour, pattern and quirky pieces. And so here I believe my love of interior styling, design and gorgeous homewares began.
I really enjoy the whole design process, from first initial thoughts through to research, sketching, creating and making. I love the surprise when a piece finally comes together and it makes you feel happy inside. I also have an overwhelming appreciation of nature and the more simple things in life which I believe grows as we age; they make my heart sing. I love the smell of the gum trees after the rain and the treasures you find on a beach walk. I hope I am opening my children’s eyes to these delights.
During my 20’s I was lucky enough to spend a number of years living in Germany and Cyprus This time really gave me an appreciation for architecture, people and the traditions of other countries. I now want to share this knowledge and understanding with my customers and this will now be an important aspect of what InKognito Surface Design is all about.
I studied Interior and Three Dimensional Design in Wales and then Textile Design and Printing in Ultimo Tafe Sydney in 2006. After a short break and 2 years discovering Perth, Western Australia we returned to Sydney. I needed to get back into the creative world and so went on to complete the International School of Colour and Design Diploma course in Surface Design. Whilst at ISCD I won the Porter’s Original Paints Industry Award of Excellence for my wallpaper design ‘Incognito’.
Through InKognito Surface Design I am able to communicate my personal style, passion for colour, pattern, fabrics and textures. I am able to share my understanding of other countries cultures and traditions through my work. I am delighted to be able to have this opportunity to embrace my life long love of design in this way.
