Wow, what a day, we took the day off and devoted our time to exploring the world of Grand Designs Live Melbourne 2013 (25th - 27th October 2013) and all that was on offer today located at the Exhibition Centre "Jeffs Shed".
We were very impressed by the entrance to the show itself, low long hallway entrance with speakers strategically positioned to offer gentle carming sounds, clouds & sky overhead digitally printed onto the canvas roof and then you arrive at an open 'hub' like central foyer area that allows you to dart off into the many streams offered.
Straight to Grand Design 'Interiors' of course, we took some time to work through the event and whilst we were very impressed by the home automation / digital home theatre hifi focused stands, there wasn't a great deal of interior focused stands. I suppose interiors can be lost in translation and our expectations were more interior decorating focused, however this didn't distract too greatly as there were many diverse products on display that immediately drew our attention.
The Kitchen stream offered the usual kitchen appliances, kitchens and the many tap fittings, reverse osmosis filters and other kitchen focused products and solutions.
The others were Building and Exterior / Outdoor which by their definition hit the nail on the head, vast array for the budding builder, home handyman or for those looking for new design, architectural and outdoor ideas.
The highlight of the day would by far have had to have been bumping into Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, we felt it was an opportune time to get a photo with the two greats of the industry. Not too long after a brief intro, we were into a photo moment and Maggie's head seemed to have exploded after having met two of her idols. This moment truly was one of those 'right place at the right time occassions'.
Then our pre-exit book signing of 'Design Your Home' by Shaynna Blaze which was a great way to get to meet her and compliment her on her contribution to the industry.
All in all a job well done, very organised and timely, especially the seminars and book signings, we certainly hope that you too, enjoyed Grand Designs Melbourne 2013 as much as we did.
Until next time....
