Jess and Lisa, bloggers from Bargain Mum Australia and the Everyday Mums share their blogging experience and give some pertinent advice.
We are Jess and Lisa from The Everyday Mums and Bargain Mum Australia, two mums discussing motherhood, life and affordable living.
We started blogging in December 2015 after we had someone ask us if we had a blog. We thought, why not! It was a perfect way to express ourselves and connect with people on a deeper level. Instagram can be so limiting when we have a lot to say.
Anything! Inspiration can come from all places, our children, our husbands, the drive to make others feel part of a bigger community. We have drawn a lot of inspiration from our close circle of girlfriends. We get many of ideas from having conversations with women just like us. Just the other night, we sat on the floor of Jess's lounge room, drinking wine and talking about everything from celebrity break ups to anxiety. We have a slight obsession with following dreamy accounts like @onekingslane @madelinelu @lichipan @worldwanderlust @graymarlin and any account that features pretty front doors!
Take inspiration from but don't copy anyone else. Your voice is YOUR voice. People want to hear your true authentic self. Also be wary that by sharing in such a public forum, people will have their say on everything you do. You won't get 100% of people to agree with you, ever. So take peoples negativity with a grain of salt.
Neither of us have a specific person in mind when asked this question, more of a creative direction or general inspiration. I (Jess) am obsessed with Photography, Scandinavian style, American Colonial Architecture, Music and the water.
The freedom to talk about what ever we want, as well as the ability to give a voice to those who need one. To shed light on subjects, that often get buried. We really get a kick out of raising people up and helping where we can.
